Collecting architectural details is one of the things I have enjoyed doing for ages. For this collection I have selected some of my photos for their arched shape, either extending outward or inward. These were taken in different cities and villages in Europe, varying from Paris, Riga, Lisbon to Rome, Amsterdam and other places. Don’t you just love the details and symbolism in some of these (some really are just for decoration purposes)? What does it mean, I wonder many times. What do these symbols represent, why were they chosen..? Something to ponder about.

I don’t think a symbol is ever used anywhere without a purpose, coincidentally or just for the sake of ‘decoration’
